Aurobindo Pharma was established in 1986 by K. Nithyananda Reddy and P. V. Ramprasad Reddy. The company started operations in the year 1988–89 with a one-unit manufacturing semi-synthetic penicillin (SSP) in Puducherry city. Aurobindo Pharma Limited became a publicly Listed company in 1992 and listed its shares on the Indian stock exchanges in the year 1995.
